Wheel In The Sky

Well, almost.

When things go this wrong and no one gets hurt, it’s ok to laugh.

The driver’s side front “bearing hub assembly” came apart and my wheel came off as I was rounding a left hand turn this morning.  The rotor, hub, caliper, rim and tire all broke loose from the vehicle and by all rights should have took off rolling down the highway.

No doubt this is going to cost big bucks to fix, but I really dont care.  With all of the miles I drive on the Interstates and Tollroads every day this EASILY could have happened differently.  If this would have happened at my usual 80MPH clip on the xpressway, I’d not be here tonight laughing about the wheel coming off, and probably a few other commuter families would be less a member or two at the dinner table tonight.

Sighing with relief, I’m laughing it off.

Moral of the story:  Dont assume squeaking is always just the brakes.
