Taking Chance (Kevin Bacon’s Finest Performance)

April 22, 2008
By Van W

Would it surprise you that our fallen (KIA) marines are each given a personal escort home?

ChanceKevin Bacon gives an especially dignified performance based on a true story, as a marine colonel who volunteers for the “lower duty” as an escort for a fallen front-liner he didn’t personally know, who died in Iraq.

Bacon’s portrayl of a marine is right on target. Crisp, authoritative yet gentle, wise without braggadocio, quiet, and someone you’d salute if you bumped into at a grocery store.

Talk about tear jerker though,………this is one damn fine performance, I’d go as far to say it’s Kevin Bacon’s best ever, hands down.

I’ve watched it 4 times already, and it still has an emotional impact each time I see it.

If you rent only one DVD this year, please get this. You will not regret one moment I promise you.

Semper Fi!
