Would it surprise you that our fallen (KIA) marines are each given a personal escort home?
Kevin Bacon gives an especially dignified performance based on a true story, as a marine colonel who volunteers for the “lower duty” as an escort for a fallen front-liner he didn’t personally know, who died in Iraq.
Bacon’s portrayl of a marine is right on target. Crisp, authoritative yet gentle, wise without braggadocio, quiet, and someone you’d salute if you bumped into at a grocery store.
Talk about tear jerker though,………this is one damn fine performance, I’d go as far to say it’s Kevin Bacon’s best ever, hands down.
I’ve watched it 4 times already, and it still has an emotional impact each time I see it.
If you rent only one DVD this year, please get this. You will not regret one moment I promise you.

I observe things. Just today I noticed:
…..Orange cones. They’re fucking everywhere. They breed faster than a lazy Mexican in December. Sry, I mean undocumented non-worker Livin’la Vida Loca.
…..An obese man warbling away with a cart load of goodies and 4 crates of bottled water from the grocery store.
…..Each hiding behind a toll booth, Revenue Collectors (police officers) playing “gottchya” (giving seat belt tickets), springing out at hapless customers as they try to pay the attendents. Illinois did very very well today (made obscene record profits).
…..Female “construction workers” holding “SLOW” signs where there was no construction.
…..A commerical on talk radio paid for by the Obama campaign extolling the virtues of not taking money from lobbyists and big evil companies, followed by a news story of Obama taking money from lobbyists, big evil companies and an indicted bribemaster, followed by another news story of Illinois/Chicago/Will County charted as the most investigated/most corrupt/highest taxed territory in the USA, followed by YET ANOTHER story of Obama polling the highest in Illinois.
…..yet more people carrying bottled water. :-0
